This is one of those times when that saying fits the situation. I initially started off anticipating a good read, and experienced that anticipation for a good part of this read. That feeling deteriorated rapidly, the deeper I delved into the storyline. I sincerely enjoyed the prequel like writings that preceded the beginning of each new chapter. Ms. Shiraz used this unique way to provide the reader with extra eyes to become better acquainted with the qualities that personified that individual. I loved this addition to her storyline and it proved very effective in letting us into the inner sanctum of her characters. I also loved the two storylines involving Shout and Tish and the one involving Jordan and Juicy and the way this author merged the two to bring about a more completed and developed addition to her story. All of these things were good, but I did not feel too good about this book as I kept reading. Shout first appeared to be a deep thinking type of rapper which was kindred to the activist rapper, Common. I was enamored of the way Shout was initially portrayed and suffered right along with him when he was unjustly accused of participating in that vicious act against the women. I was all into this book because of the strength of his character and the ways he gave back to his community.

But then, I was blown away with the way he had no compunction sleeping with a couple of groupies further on down the line while still purporting to be in love with Tish. And to add fuel to fire, he sets her up to prove her loyalty in the most degrading way he could! Where did the Mama loving, love women man go to. Will the real Shout please stand up! This story just left me with so much to be desired. I needed more development regarding Juicy's character. We are treated to the violent act committed against her as an eight year old child, but then we are thrown into her adulthood with little to guide us into how she arrived there. What happened to her addicted mother? I wanted to know how and why Jordan became so obsessed with Shout. Boom and Sydney was another let down for me. Their relationship or lack thereof, added nothing to the storyline. All of a sudden it was just introduced with no rhyme or reason and continued in that vein. I found myself yawning through half of this book and was very disappointed at the let down of what started out as a great read. The so called cliffhanger left me with no desire to continue on the path of reading the other books to this series. What with Shout being a person raised in the tough streets of his hood, did he not heed to the super code of "snitches get stitches"? This book is definitely not a keeper to be read again. I am a bonafide romance reader, but did not find too much of that in this particular read. I believe if Ms. Shiraz wishes to continue in this genre, then some spice definitely needs to be added in her bedroom scenes. Those produced the most yawns of all.

But maybe it's just me. I was left with a void, which was not filled, even unto reading the very last punctuation mark. Ms. Shiraz definitely has great stories to tell, but in my opinion, this one missed the mark. Read and judge for yourself.

Exclusive A Tisha Ariel Nikkole Novel Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Yasmin Shiraz Still Eye Rise Media Books Reviews

Every body in this book jumped to conclusions with the exception of Juicy, perhaps that's because of her profession? Tisha seems cool on the surface but is a groupie with a press badge insofar as her dealings with Shout. Shout was typical no matter how much he or Tisha refused to admit it. Boom was a cool guy and probably the most level headed. Good drama filled read
This story was amazing. I love how it shows that Rappers are real people with real feeling and they want the same thing regular people want, someone who love us flaws and all, that we can trust. I loved Tisha and Shout's crazy relationship no matter how much she loved him she did not let go of her values.

Shout has issues with trust , but most famous people do so I will let him get away with it. I wanted to pop him in the head a few times.

Jordan is crazy a hell and got what she deserved.
Wow. This book showed what it was like for Tisha Nikkole to be in love with a rapper before she met him, have a successful journalist career & how an obsession can ruin it all.

Shout was a rapper with a conscience & a heart. Sometimes the things you do to obtain & or hold on to your dreams can destroy you. The characters in this book were all very humane & relatable!

Boom & Sydney run a PR firm together but they have a chemistry that was undeniable.
I CANT wait for part 2!! Great job Yasmin Shiraz!
This was the first novel that I've read by Yasmin Shiraz I'm impressed. Although it started off a little slow once it got going you can't stop reading. I love that it was a challenging love story and not the same sappy unbelievable love stories that are so common in other books. Even though Obstacles were constantly thrown at Shout and Tisha they were weathering the storm together, that is until a snake slithered her way into their life. Will they make it out of the latest test....only time will tell.....

Great job Yasmin I can't wait to get started on the next part of this series ;)
Exclusive is a good fiction read that will take you into the world of the fast and fake music industry.

Tisha Ariel Nikkole is a journalist with her heart set on being with Shout, the hottest rapper out. She lands an interview with him and eventually completes her mission on winning him over. Of course the story wouldn't be good without the drama that comes along with being with someone famous, in particular a rapper. Many people pray for fame and money but as Shout's story shows, there's a large price to pay for notoriety.

I liked the author's flow and found that the book moved at a fairly even pace. There were some pretty good points brought up through the fictional articles from journalist Tisha before each chapter. Some of the situations, in particular the ending, were a bit out there for my taste but the author may have felt they were necessary to tell the story and set up for the sequel.

I would recommend this novel and I look forward to reading the sequel.
After reading Exclusive A Tisha Ariel Nikkole Novel #1, I feel that I now know a little more about the Hip Hop / Rap scene. The author, Jasmin Shiraz, sets up her story very meticulously. Looking beyond all the glamor that engulfs that life, the hotels, cars, women, sex, club life, etc, we find the players, major and minor, who direct, drive and ride shotgun in the unfolding of the plot. It's a dog eat dog world for sure! The heroine, Tisha, a freelance magazine journalist has a thing for the hero, Shout, (Keshawn), the #1 rapper in the US. Their story forms the crux of the book. It's a story of mistrust, miscommunication and misinformation. It's also a cliff hanger that ends with the heroine in a very tenuous position. I wouldn't dare spoil it, but I can be honest and tell you the cliffhanger makes you want to read Book 2.
I am not into the rap scene, but I did enjoy this story. Yasmin Shiraz has skills.
